I had my first Yin yoga class last Friday. And I’m so glad I did! I haven’t felt this relaxed and tension-free in a long time, even if I regularly get massages. There’s a world of difference when you get in a totally empty, totally freeing zone; when your mind is free from distraction, and your body just — literally — goes with the flow.
And when you get to do that in a place like this… well, it just makes everything better.

This is Beyond Yoga, a yoga studio which goes by the philosophy that yoga is for everyone. It not only caters not only to “existing yoga practitioners but to individuals of different backgrounds, lifestyles, and fitness levels that want to explore the benefits of a yoga practice.” And it’s true, especially coming for a yoga newbie like me. I found the experience to be totally new, which was quite liberating and refreshing. I have to say: Yoga is a totally excellent complement activity to my life as a work-at-home mom. After a week of sitting at a desk, working in overdrive, all the while managing a home, yoga practice can really get you back to a place of stillness and peace.
That’s Monica Eleazar-Manzano teaching the Yin class that I attended. It was she who invited me for this Yin session. You may know Monica as one of the yummy mummies behind the INDIGO Baby brand. She is a total angel, and a compassionate yogi and teacher. I highly recommend you attend one of her Yin classes, like this one I attended in the Tomas Morato branch.
Post-yoga tea…
For those living in Makati and the surrounding areas in Bonifacio Global City and Taguig, you can attend classes at Beyond Yoga’s branch in BGC Central. (Same building as Nolita and Cotton On.) Here’s a little bit about that branch:
(Beyond Yoga’s) Bonifacio High Street Central (or simply, BHS Central) branch, offers a wide array of yoga, dance and core strength classes to choose from, including none other than AntiGravity Yoga, a fun workout that will literally keep you off your toes and swinging above ground.
The BHS Central branch was conceptualized to create an inviting environment that brings to life forward-thinking ideas aligned Beyond Yoga’s class offerings. The company collaborated with top architects Jason and Nikki Buensalido to bring the vision to life, using the AntiGravity hammock as a design inspiration, and creating beautiful soft lines that cascade throughout ceilings, into raw walls that accent glass and brick.
Every space is well-thought out – from the practice room, which can accommodate as many as 50 mat yoga practitioners (or 26 AntiGravity yoga practitioners) at a time, to the male and female locker rooms clad in matte black and chrome finishings by VISARI Bathroom Solutions, to the lounge and reception area with functional niches for retail items and accessories.
