Well, several, actually! We spent the eve of New Year’s at Ton’s family’s place in White Plains. They have an awesome party roof deck that offers an amazing view of the city, so we could see all the fireworks displays from miles away. Pictured below are some of the Eastwood City fireworks, which we could see straight ahead from where we were. It was pretty phenomenal.

Of course, amidst this fiery mayhem (which was all pretty and entertaining, especially from where we were five storys from street level!), the loud speakers were blasting out Katy Perry’s “Firework,” which was just so much fun to dance to at that moment!
Here’s a shot of Vito and Ton partying it up:

And some more fireworks from the houses and villages flanking us:

Vito was quite impressed by the display around us. From where we stood on the roofdeck, you could see a panoramic view stretching from Antipolo to the Fort. We could see Valle Verde, the rest of White Plains, and all the way down C-5, which was all fired up with fireworks displays. In spite of the smoke, I enjoyed myself immensely!

Vito was so pleased by what he saw, that he took up his Magic Slate and “drew fireworks.” I’m telling you, this kid has got talent. My mom said I was pretty nifty at drawing at an early age, and my little boy (who just turned three last November 2012) is looking to be just as adept with a pencil (or crayon, marker — he has them all.)

The next morning (well, early afternoon, to be exact), we decided to try out Resort’s World Manila for our New Year late lunch. Having never been there before, it was a good a time as any to go. It really is quite a way from our place, but we got there pretty quickly since there was absolutely no heavy traffic on New Year’s Day. We had a sumptuous lunch of porchetta and mashed roasted potatoes, mushroom ravioli, and tiramisu (all of which were yummy).

For dinner (which was around 6:30PM, even though we finished late lunch at 3!) was at Draft in Power Plant Mall. I love this place, even though I’ve only been twice. I only had a clam chowder, since I was still full from lunch, but that didn’t stop me from ordering a nice Timmerman’s strawberry beer, which I would get more often if I were not allergic to alcohol and if it wasn’t so damn expensive.

That’s it. After the Draft meal, we vowed to return to our habit of no white bread, no fried food, and no red meat. We’re actually pretty good at this discipline, but I admittedly need to get back to exercising now! I’ll be sharing more about my 2013 goals later on.
How did you spend your New Year’s? I hope you had an awesome celebration!

Happy new year, Marts!
I love Draft. Sarap the mussels and the pulled pork sandwich. My friends love the Hoegaarden beer.
Happy New Year, Ginger! Next meeting, Draft tayo! Hehehe!
I love Hoegaarden, too.
