I rarely post photos of myself on my blog, probably because I hate the way I look in photos most of the time. However, when the sweet lady mom behind an up-and-coming line of nursing and maternity clothes asked me if I would be willing to review a product from their line, I knew I had to suck it up and post the best darned photos of me I could manage. So, thanks to the hubby (who took the pics), here is the first ever “what I wore” post, a la Dainty Mom style!
The Company
I’m reviewing a product from the mom-owned clothing company, Latch a Babe Nursing and Maternity Wear. They sell well-designed and affordable clothes for pregnant and nursing moms. You can view more from their collection here.
Review: Latch a Babe Winged Breastfeeding Top
Latch a Babe’s owner, Goldie Lee, was very gracious when she came to my house one morning with some pieces from the nursing wear line. I decided on the winged blouse, which is made of soft t-shirt material. (Only the heather grey came in my size, so I settled on the color, even if I would have preferred something a little brighter!) The winged top is a nursing top, though it can also double as a maternity top while one is pregnant.
Here’s my take on the top, as well as how I wore it:
On my usual Monday morning grocery day: Me wearing the winged top with denim jeans from Mango, camel wedges from Aerosoles, belt from Haze, and my Frances' satchel.
Close-up: The front portion is stretchy, and can fit a growing belly if you're preggy. I just LOOK preggy, haha.
The "wings" may be pulled frontward to reveal the breastfeeding access on either side of the blouse. Note the ruched detail on either side of this blouse.
Good things about this top:
- You wouldn’t think it was a nursing top! Yey!
- It’s a multi-use top that can take you through from pregnancy to nursing, because it’s made of stretchy fabric.
- The fabric is breathable and not as thick as those used in many imported brands of nursing wear, which is great for our local climate. And when you’re a preggy or nursing mom, you have to keep your cool.
- It’s got discreet nursing access when you lift the “wings” on the sleeves; just pull back the covering and nurse your baby, even without a nursing cover.
- Each style comes in various colors.
- It’s affordable: Thing winged top is just Php850.00!
I wore the blouse twice before I reviewed it, to see if it could withstand the washing machine or regular hand-washing. As I expected, the top became a little loose after the vigorous washing machine cycle (I washed it with other clothes in a full batch). But after I hand-washed it and allowed it to air-dry, the blouse retained its shape better. So, I recommend hand-washing for this product, since it is rather lightweight.
